"The connections between wine and the Garrubba family reflect the story of a long and loving relationship lasting more than half a century“
Our story begins in 1937. Driven by his love for the country and a passion for wine, Grandfather Vincenzo began producing wine in a small tuff cave. The initial problems were overcome with persistence, willingness to make sacrifices and daily work which always produced a good crop of fruit, and around twenty years later, he decided to open a winery and start growing wine in the region of Crotone. Alongside Grandfather Vincenzo are his three sons, Antonio, Giuseppe and Francesco. The art of wine making has survived and the knowledge was not lost. Giuseppe took over the management of the small winery Cantina di Melissa which over time, through determination and persistence, became a small but solid reality: Cantina Cav. Giuseppe Garrubba. The wine kept flowing and the time flies by. A leap in time brings us to the year 2006 in which the Cavaliere, this time with his sons, decides to bottle a wine: our first bottle is a Cirò Rosso doc and is very successful. In only two years, we have managed to produce 35,000 bottles; a small but significant goal considering our philosophy is quality, not quantity.
Today, our wines – red, white and rosé – are appreciated by those looking for a certain indulgence and, like us, they cannot turn down a good bottle from Cirò or Melissa, and enjoy them in peaceful surroundings!
